Warrior of a female Kikosi -regiment- of the Chui Himaya

Chui Himaya -the Leopard Empire- was a human nation from Zarhuy, located in the south-east of the plains of Antor.

They where a militarist nation, and leaded by their Mfalme -kings-, they expanded in Antor and the highlands, facing and defeating numerous enemies and rivals, to become one of the most important human nations of Antor during the XXVI-XXVII centuries (after the aparition of humanity, in the Late Human Age

One of their more persistent enemies, both hated and respected, were the Loranor, the cat-people, specially of the Leoparth nation of the chui watu. Often, they will clash, and the skins of the leoparth would be a coveted prize to the human warriors, used as clothes.

The Chui Himaya warriors where often infatry, carring spears, cowhide shields, knobkerrie maces and axes, not using armors, often more an impediment in the climate and the plains of Antor, than a help -sometimes however some Chui Himaya warriors carried some helmets, armors and weapons from slayed enemies, such as elves, kanov or orcs, but that was an exception, rather than a rule).

The Chui Himaya armies where divided in regiments and divisions, in an age grade and gender: in such, youths were organized into age groups, with each cohort responsible for certain duties and tribal ceremonies. Periodically, the older age grades were summoned to the villages of sub-chieftains, or to the Council -mKutano- for consultations, assignments, and an induction ceremony that marked their transition from boys and girls to full-fledged adults and warriors.

The settlement elders generally handled local disputes and issues, and above them were the mKutano, and above the mKutano stood the chief of a particular clan lineage or tribe. The mKutano handled administrative matters for their chiefs - ranging from settlement of disputes, to the collection of taxes. In time of war, the mKutano supervised the fighting men in their areas, forming leadership of the military forces deployed for combat. The age grade youth, under the guidance of the adults, formed the basis for the systematic regimental organization of the Chui Himaya.

Age grades were responsible for a variety of activities, from guarding the camp, to cattle herding, to certain rituals and ceremonies. It was customary in Chui Himaya culture for young men and women to provide limited service to their local chiefs -and later the Mfalme- until they were married -a privilege only the king bestowed- and were recognised as official householders.

Then, in case of war, the Chui Himaya had regiments composed of men or women, organized by gender and age. -Therefore, the title of "amazons" given to female Chui Himaya warriors would be incorrect, unless used only as meaning of warrior woman, as was a patriarcal society.-
