Since the first apparition of the demons in Aiers, in the Mount Satanmet in the Island Demonach, there have been winged demons. Normally, the demons prefeered bat-like, or dragon-like wings. As well, there where some feathered demons.

As well, there where myths about angels. And after the demons appeared -or the creatures that humans called like the demons of their religions-, many thought there where to exist as well celestial, divine creatures.

There had been demons, who possed or presented themselves as angels, but no real angels had to be found.

The Battleborn, -or called "Battle Angels"-, weren't really Angels.

After the end of the First War of the Power, the venerable Empire of Whide Axis of the High Elves became obsessed with demons: or specifically, with demonic maná manipulation, magic, and their advanced crafts: the possibility of creating life -or a sort of life-.

The Battleborn were then, a bit like the fairies of the city of the Wizards of the Coast of Dahl'Aran: artificially crafted creatures.

Studying demon magic, crafts, and the Soul Stones of the demons, the Wizards of the Coast of Dahl'Aran created the Battleborns: Done from a soul shard of a Bazrrod demon lord soulstone: A living weapon, done from demons, to combat demons, if they where even to raise again from the darkness they where exiled to.

And so where crafted the Battleborn, about 60 years after the End of the First War of the Power (2283 a.a.H). Created from demon shards -as the first vampires, succubi, werewolves and elemental demons- they where as well, a type of demon.

However, they where thought by the elves, other creatures -and themselves- as something different, of a different nature.

The High Elves wizards of Dahl'Aran crafted the first Battleborn after themselves: of light skin, light eyes, light hair and pointed ears. But as vampire, werewolf and succubi demons, the Car'Hadan could have descendance -and they did so-, which will differentiate them from some mere "golems" or other elven creations.

Physically, the first battleborn where similar to high elves -larger and stronger thought, created for battle-. However, they where capable of retracting their wings: The idea seems to have been taken from the shapeshifting habilities of werewolves. The process wasn't painless.

These where featered, white wings. -later, there where Battleborn of the next generations, with other colours of wings, and some that lost the capability of retracting their wings, and some that didn't had wings at all: this mostly due mixed parentage-.

Being created for battle, the Battleborn have a special thrive for battle and the battlefield, and in general, they seemed to be a bit inestable emotionally, being said that was the conflict of their dual nature. They loved to eat and drink -and due the energy they needed, they did so in large quantities-, and had almost an instintive hate for demons of all kinds, as they where to be hunters.

The Battleborn where few, and mostly only located in northwestern Ushaenor. However, while there where still garrisons of the Whide Axis on Demonach, to watch the exile of the Great Demon Lords, or in Polforia -garrisons that some decades later will be retreated, and their possitions abandoned-, there where sent some Battleborn to Aels, and from there some moved to Zarhuy and Hieyoks.

For the time of the Second War of the Power, the few battleborn did played a role in several campaigns. Still by then an irregular sighting, many times their apparition was seen as a divine sign among the christian humans to fight demons. But as later in the war -and in the third war of the power- they found out them not to be of divine nature, the human entusiasm for them vanished quickly, and had a more practical approach -the need to have flying allies to counter flying units of the Dark Legion-.

The Tree of Peoples of Aiers

Gunn Oddsdottir of Mildred, the Battleborn here represented, is a character originaly from :iconkanyiko:, as redesigned with these clothes by :devLa_ela:

I hadn't give much of a thought to her backstory -being a *kanyiko's original character- but I think this errant Battleborn in disguise, roaming across Polforia just before the Second War of the Power, is a second generation. More than that? I will need to speak with Kanyiko about it!

Makes sense people would think they are angels.
