Unarmed, the Ozcura walked to the clearing.  As she did, she looked with her single eye to the tree and the hanging bodies on them. A nervous smile confirmed, they where alive, but not comfortable at all.

Standing by the three, there was a single figure, armed with a spear.

"That's close enough" the Ozcura was told.

"I came here for five lost ozcuras workers. I only see three of them here" the band leader said, looking at the strange fruit hanging from the trees, who smiled back at her nervously.

"We only caught three of them" the Loranor said.

"Yeah, I believe that" she answered.

"It's not my fault an ozcura have so little meat in their bones" the beast-woman said viciously.

"I won't say anything, lost in the swamps, I get it. Maybe some deserters" the Band leader said conciliatory.

"What were your ozcuras doing in our territory? The Dark Legion had returned. We have a truce."

"Indeed the Dark Legion returned, and our demon gods are demanding ones. They weren't a hunting party, but workers. We need to build more carts for the Legion, and the best wood ended in your half of the forest"

"How you meet your production quotas isn't my problem. Your ozcuras can't cross the border. I will protest to the Dark Legion emmisary" the Loranor said.

"...Should then I report too, how two ozcuras were lost in your side of the border?"

The Loranor was annoyed. "Little means a couple of Ozcuras"

"The demons are conscripting the last goblin and ozcura of the bottom of their barrels. Don't think they would like to know we are wasting our resources... as long I know, wasting troopers life it's a privilege of the ones higher up."

The Loranor growled dangerously, but she agreed. None will go with the story to the emmisary of the demons.

"Do you have the payment?"

The Ozcura handed her a package with the precious feathers of the Gaardu bird.

"This wasn't the price we agreed" the Loranor growled.

"And these are three Ozcuras, not five... and as you said, little means a couple of Ozcuras... and our skin doesn't have much market value, isn't true?"

The Loranor growled once more time, but she used her spear to cut the ropes of the three hanging ozcuras, who fell to the ground as potato sacks.

"...so I see you are still using the skin of my battle sister Kaarda, our previous leader" casually said the Ozcura band leader, as the Loranor beast-woman cut the ropes of the moaning ozcuras workers, protesting for the abrupt fall.

"And you still are using the fur of my mother." the Loranor answered.

"Oh, I earned that right" the band leader said, pointing the eyepatch.

There was a tense silence, once the ozcura workers hurried up to their lands, were in the distance the warband waited for them. Under the dead tree, remained the Loranor and the Ozcura band leader.

"... have you ever wondered who began this idea of flaying and using the skin of our foes as clothes?"

the Loranor smiled with a grin full of teeth. "Obviously the Ozcuras. Ozcura leather makes lousy jackets at best."

The Ozcura laughed. "Yeah, and I can confirm, your mother fur it's indeed marvelous."

There was again silence.

The Loranor squinted. "We may be now allies under the Dark Legion of Demons... but once we march against the humans, you should watch your back... who knows, war it's a dangerous place" she said as a veiled menace.

"The same to you, old friend" said the ozcura, winking. Only after she did it, she told herself winking one eye was a stupid gesture when you have only one eye, anyway. She decided then to only wave goodbye and return to her Warband.

...she have a quota to meet for their demonic captain, and she's now two ozcuras short... and she was wondering if a quick raid would be effective to get a couple of volunteers.

A quick drawing showing how trustful and close allies where some of the peoples of the reunified Dark Legion of Demons, as they prepared to march against the human Five Kingdoms of the Northwest...

Better cut them down before the blood rushes to their hand and causes permanent damage. *nodnod* But still, an eye for an eye, I guess, right?
