Description

Streets of Phalais, Ignacian Sucession War: a cavalry regiment under the orders of crown prince Louis try to advance in the Rue du L'Impero, facing in their advance the opossition of some infantry units of the garrison of Phalais, who had barricaded themselves in their way to the Imperial Palace.

The Ignacnian Sucession War was a civil war in the Gastronomic Empire (IG).

The event that triggered the war, was the proclamation by the Emperor Ignacio II of his fourth son -Ignacio-, as his sucessor in the Imperial Throne, over his three older brothers.

The problems in the imperial families weren't new, and the clashes between the emperor and his older sons where well know. However, just some problems in the imperial family wouldn't have derived in a civil war, if it wasn't for the contradictions within the Gastronomic Empire.

When Emperor Ignacio I made public the new heir to the throne Prince Ignacio, these news infuriated Crown Prince Louis, the eldest son -and former heir- of the Emperor Ignacio.

The Crown Prince Louis, who learned about this while he was in the thermal baths of Aahverne, in the south of the Empire, he quicly gathered with his closest generals, ministers and officers, preparing a coup d'etat against his own father and younger brother.

Secretly, Crown Prince Louis returned to the capitol of Phalais along with his Guard Lancers regiment. Once in Phalais, he went to the barracks of his cavalry regiments, and marched with them to the Imperial Palace.

It was a coup d'etat, and a challenge to the Imperial Power that Emperor Ignacio I was going to deal as with all the previous challenges to his power: with force.

The garrison forces of Phalais where surprised by the cavalry coup, and gathered by officers of the Imperial Guard, they builded barricades in the streets to close the direction to the Imperial Palace, to win time for the Imperial Guard to fortify their possitions, and to do their moves.

Crown Prince Louis, focused in reaching the palace and seizing the barracks and armories of the city -and in fighting the garrison loyal to the emperor-, failed to secure the telegraphic lines and radio stations: And while they marched to the Palace, the Emperor Ignacio I was able from there, to call for reinforcements of the units stationed outside of the city.

While the forces of Louis where able to reach the Imperial Palace and fight in the outskirts of it and in the gardens, the Imperial Guard keep their ground: just enough for the Ignacian air force to make their presence, beginning to bomb the rebels around the palace -and the city of Phalais itself.-

With his attemp failed, Crown Prince Louis decided to retreat to the east of the nation, hoping to continue his rebellion with the support of some mayority groups oppresed by the Ignacian minority rule.

Meanwhile, as the forces loyal to the emperor entered in Phalais, the combats with the Crown Prince Louis forces degenerated into sacking, burning and destroying of Phalaisi whole neighborhoods. Outnumbered, the rebels equiped with captured armament to Phalaisi civilians. These, who had for long suffered the ignacian repression, and to defend their homes, rebelled as well against the Imperial Rule, which will force as well the emperor to leave Phalais and go to the outskirts of the city, to his Summer Palace of Verrais.

Phalais was in rebel hands -and will create an autonomous, republican rebel government-, and in the east, Crown Prince Louis -and the other two eldest brothers, who joined him- will challenge the autorithy of Emperor Ignacio and the Prince for about 9 months, that will last the bloody civil war.

At the end, the rebellion will be crushed, Crown Prince Louis executed, the other children of Emperor Ignacio II, exiled, Phalais republican government will be stomped over, and Prince Ignacio will be crowned as Ignacio II.

Either this is a war of succession, or the visiting team was soundly defeated in a football (soccer) match, and the visitors took out their frustration on the local's town.
