"Ohhh" said Valya, reading the map. "We were sort of lost, because the building that appear in the map, isn't there anymore."

"Are you sure?" asked Galya, double checking the map of the university. It would be much easier if they write these things in ukranian instead!

"Yes. It seems the chemistry faculty was burned in the earthquake" said Valya, who needed to ask somebody for directions, getting them in some pretty bad english, and being mistaked and her friends as 'gringas californianas'.

"So... why everybody is speaking about mechones?"
asked Galya. "what that mean, anyway?"

The three Ukranian students visited Chile first as tourists, and as well, as exchange students of the University of Concepción (UdeC).

"it seems... it means a lock of hair."

"Like Khokhol?"

"yeah. I don't understand the chileans, anyway. Is a name they use for the new students in the university" said Valya, before turning to Alya. "ALYA! Where are you going?!"

"I only want to take a photo of you two and that tower!" she said, raising her camera to the Campanil.

"She is going to get us problems, or get problems herself" protested Galya.

She still blamed Alya the unlucky for the fire that destroyed thousands of acres of the National Park of Torres del Paine in the Patagonia. Not because Alya had anything to do with that, but for travelling with them, as due the fire all the booking was cancelled:

So in their planned visit to Chile, a month and half before the University classes began in march, they could half of the 'traditional' tourist route of Chile: Atacama desert and San Pedro de Atacama in the far north and the eastern island, aside from central Chile: but they couldn't see the other extreme of the long country, in the Patagonia...

"And is all her fault" said Galya, pointing her friend, who just in that moment, walking with her camera in her hands, tripped as she didn't see one of the steps, falling violently to the floor.

The two friends yelled "Alya!" in the same time , as they runned to see if anything happened to her...

"I'm fine!"
