Renegade Elf

asked me to try to colour this one... so here is my fail.

"Fluffy" is a Renegade Elf: this mean, an Elf who have renegated his elfic origins, living like one member of other specie (or other elf race".

However, she didn't decided to be a renegade: a Orc raid ([link]) attacked her village, and she was captured as a little kid [link] too small to even remember her real name.

Luckily for her, instead of the normal destiny of a Elf slave in Orc hands, she was a pet slave, [link] a lap-dog for her owner, a Orc woman warrior, who called her "fluffy" [link]

However, as she began to grow [link] she wasn't as "cute" for a lap-dog, and her owner had her own daughters and sons...

Until finally, her owner decided to sell her -instead of eating her, as is common among the orcs, due her past as family-pet- [link]

She was selled to a Dwarf trading company, dedicated to the exploration and opening of new markets in the Plains of Antor:

"Fluffy" become then Slave 124 of the "Wrall and Son Stone Trade company", working in several duties...

But due his past as orc pet, she didn't passed time with other elf slaves, and she was raised by these orcs, so she never know elfic -but she learned Orc, useful language for opening new markets-.
But as well, for her past as pet, she didn't had any real hability to be exploded economically by "Wrall and Son Stone Trade Company": and become needed to teach her a profession:

So she become an escort to the caravans, translator for the dealers and orc consumers, ocasional guide, wagon driver, and as Scout, as well any other work they owners give her in the camps or trading posts.

Her scars come from being the family pet of a Orc family, and the subsecuent games of the childrens: luckily for her, an elf may be fragile, but heal quickly!

AAAND a second tought.

Have somebody else thinked why the elfs have such a small population?

I mean, they have long lifes, and almost aren't affected by diseases that will kill their children (in middle ages... eck, even recent centuries, about a 20% of the children died before reaching adulthood)

Also they have an advanced culture/civilization, so for all logic, they have all the ingredients for an explosive population grow.



and the low fertility?

yep. But somebody have tried to explain it?

There is my teory, and how the elfs from my fantasy world live:

ELF LIFE CICLE

Infant: (biological human years (BHY): 0 to 5) = 0 to 10 years
Kid: ( BHY: 5 to 12) = 10 to 24 years
Teen: (BHY: 12 to 18) = 24 to 36 years
Young Adult (BHY: 18 to 25) = 36 to 84 years
Adult I (BHY: 25 to 50) = 84 to 384 years
Adult II (BHY: 50 to 65) = 384 to 684 years
Elder (BHY: 65 to 75) =684 to 804 years.

Now, you see, for the first years of growing, the elf in my world grow about two times slower than a human: but once reaching adulthood, the logic is that he age slower, to the reason: 1 year to a 1 biological human month.

So an elf of my world can reach 1.000 years, having an equivalent of human age of 116: so a very strange case, but can happen

And also, being realist, we speak of Middle age. Fantasy Middle age, but middle age in the end: And in such times, the normal expectative of life for common people was up to 50 years, maybe 60...
So the elf and drow commoner live expectative in my world is about to 400 years, rounding them nicely...

But why I say this?

Well!

Remembering what I half learned in school, when a woman born, she already had all the eggs (eggs? english word) she will have in all her life...

So is logic this happen to the elfs.

The fertil age of a woman is between 12 years old to 40 -more or less-

Since my elfs age, once reaching adulthood, each 12 years a human biological age, that means each year is for them like a month...

with gave me the following conclusion: my elfs only ovulate one time each year:

This make the elf woman are fertile for about 276 years... But they aren't infertile, or have low fertility:

Is just that is proportional:

A Elf woman can have as much daughters and sisters a human woman:

But in proportionally about the sime time

(and how long is the pregnancy? I was thinking in 18 months, the double as humans)

(and about the Period of the elf woman... well, is not some months long... but maybe I can say is like certain animals, who ovulate one time in a year... or something like that. Stupid limitated english vocabulary knowledge )

I personally think, that to give some more realistic explaination to a fantasy that don't need explaination, work quite nice.

And so, I adapt it for my uses...

And about the Orcs?

I make they live cicle to be 3/4 the human live cicle :3
a goblin will have 1/2 the human live cicle, and age in that reason their biological human years.
