"Oh my God." said a Vanolosé orc, big as a wardrobe and with large, well-cared tusks, as he fall to his knees.

After a long journey in the sea of Caritz, calling at the ports of bareds, Sretor, Cretor, Tunencern, Ze-Berra, Aegypus, Libido, Farsia and Torkia, avoiding Unnlic corsairs and the island of Demonatch and the ominous mount Satanmet, they have arrived to the Free City of Zannas, which was known to be the better port of Aels.

Once.

"I'm back." muttered the Vanolosé "I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it.

YOU MANIACS!! YOU BLEW IT UP!! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell! "

The other passengers looked in silence to the ruins of the not long ago, great city.

"What happened there?" asked Ivoÿn

"Orcs" suggested Quilintha: the once impressive and tall walls which surrounded the city of once over 50.000 inhabitants, was now in ruins. "Surely was The Nigromante of Tok-Thoria. No one else would be of this destruction"

This was new to the drow: When they were captured and enslaved, about two years ago, The Free City of Zannas, capitol of the Principality of Rudloffur was a powerful, proud and independent Vanolosé-human city state:

They knew the city wasn’t anymore in its golden age: they were raided seven years ago by a horde of barbarians of the north -Nutks, humans serving a minor demon lord called Anutkahook-: then, most of the colonies and lands outside the walls were raided: but no one could pass the three lines of fortifications, and the city resisted: weakened, but resisted, and was reinforcing themselves with mercenaries, adventurers, corsairs and engineers as while their walls was surrounded, the Vanolosé where the masters of the sea...

What could have destroyed such a powerful city?

"The power is shifting" said Akbar the Small -the White Hermit- to the two drows, as he came from under the deck to look the ruins of the once powerful city.

"What happened there? Do you know?" asked Milvais, who was following him. Not far away, the drow sword dancer and her friend looked to the ruins as well.

"They were orcs, isn't it? Who else would have done something like this?"

In front of the walls, there were still visible giant piles of skulls and skeletons.

"No" said the old high elf in disguise. "This wasn't orcs."

"Do you know what happened?"

Unlike the drows and other passengers, Akbar had learned about the current situation of southern Aels from the mouth of his friend, captain Omar, and he didn't liked it at all.

"The last year, there was an earthquake" he said. "It was very strong, and affected the whole region."

"An Earthquake?" Quilintha said, alarmed. Negeémiliel was close, down in the underworld... and below ground, an earthquake could be devastating. How were their families? And the city?!!

"Yes" said Akbar. "Most of the damage of the walls was done by it, and it took many lives. However, it wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the Gorbegeos."

"Gorbegeos? Who are them?"

The old elf leaned against the railing of the ship as he saw the destruction, remembering. When he first arrived to Aels, centuries ago during the First War of the Power, the Gorbegeos were a small kanov tribe living scattered in the mountains of Gorbegea, the lands of the giants... and like many other insignificant tribes and clans he'd meet of humans and kanov, only two centuries and half later, they'd become large nations and warlike hordes...

"A Kanov nation. There was too many of them, and too little lands and food... So many of them migrated in a horde that crossed half of Aels, raiding and plundering in their way. They wouldn't have been a problem for the walls of Zannas and the Free cities... if it wasn't because of the earthquake.

They destroyed Zannas about a year ago" he said. "The power is shifting.

Zannas has fallen, and Blazakhov and Uslen are fighting to fill the vacuum of power. the Hebonnor Kingdom have fallen in the hands of Negeémiliel... and there is no one strong enough to face the rising power of the Nigromante, waiting there in his black throne in the Island of Tok-Thoria...
And there's no longer anyone to watch in Demonach the Exile of the Great Demon Lords... and if they are liberated, it will be the second coming of the darkness..." said the white hermit with grim voice.

The ship left behind the ruins of the once rich and powerful Zannas, now uninhabited: However, it had a natural port too good to be abandoned, and on the north of the bay, a new settlement was founded, and new houses, done with stones taken from the ruins of Zannas, were under construction being made.

There, the drows and the high elf would land, to look for a trading caravan that go to the underworld of Kazrrad...

To Negeémiliel
