Ultra Light Mech Swordmaster 1990

The Swordmaster 1990 (or SWM-90) produced by the Rhodia Waffen Firma GmbH is a ultra-Light Mech produced for exportation, being adopted it used by several factions as the Pixie Squad. However, many armies prefeered in relation to ultra-light mechs to work with vehicles of the family of the K-3 Kakarach Mech, as had cheaper operative costs due the avaibility of supplies.

In the Nebula of Ots, the mechas are classified, from heavier to lighter, in Assault, Heavy, Medium, Cavalry, Light and Ultralight mechs, each having their own use -sometimes, some advanced armors and power suits are classified more as mechs than infantry weapons.-

The ultra-light mechs originated mostly as concept from the Northern-Nutk mech military doctrine based around the K-2 and later the K-3 Kakarach, of fielding more mechs, more economical and quick, to outmaneuver and "swarm" enemy heavier mechs.

While this tactic will work to the Nutks, the use of ultra-light mechs will be mostly be succesful later as due operative costs, for many factions it was much more accessible the mass produced ultra-light mechs of the K-3 Kakarach serie, and in the same way, was easier to transport across the space for the colonial wars of the main empires.

The SWM-90 was designed a design largelly tributary to the venerable K-3 Kakarach mech, but with increased mobility and firepower provided by the twin 57mm autocannons, along with 2 machineguns of 12,7 mm and two infantry lasers.

Quite a compact mech, to make it easier to transport, often it was however considered umcomfortable by their crews, as the pilot sitting in the cockpic cramped all the avaible space, and the armor was minimal: often was said, more than as a mech, it served as a weapon plataform, as the light armor made it vulnerable, as was sacrified protection for speed and maneuvrability.
