Not only, the goblins settling in these ruins was a danger, due the raids they launched from there to near dwarven -and other species- comunities, but more important was that for the dwarves of the valley, these ruins where as well holy land, and the mere goblin presence was seeing as a desecration of everything is holy for them, so quickly local warlords gathered their warriors.

The Dwarves of Enkel, in the region of the Black Banner, didn't fought as heavily armored as some of the closer dwarven nations -Nortunk and Gmonia-.
