Sargonic-Liohnese Infantry of Marine of the Kingdom of Sargos landing on the shores of the Hieyokscream, in Polforia.

"Sir. The Scouts returned" the sergeant-at-arms reported to the knight in charge of the landing party: a man who still, years after, wore the red and white lion of the fallen kingdom of Roccasone. The scouts, two nimble grey elves of Liohn had already given the report to him, were now eating some soup.

"And?"

"The Kdaimon village have a new wooden fort, but all the defenses had been set toward the sea, rather than against a land attack. The demonic temple it's already filled with the taxes and offerings of the demon-servers, but seems there still hadn't arrived an escort to retrieve it, so there would be only the local militia and the cursed temple acolytes. They won't see us coming at all. It will be an easy fight."

"How many horses are in the village?"

"The scouts counted no more than twenty. Most of them just of farmers, light mounts."

"As soon we get our hands on them, I want a mounted detachment to score deeper in demon lands. We should get marching now, to arrive at the village at dawn."

"Yes sir."

During the Second War of the Power (2.434 to the 2.539 a.a.H) between the Confederation of the Free Peoples -the Dark Legion of Demons- and their enemies, the alliance of the Whide Axis  -alliance between the christian realms of Aels and the High Elven Empire of the Whide Axis in Ushaenor primarly-, the recently reunited Dark Legion forces commited most of their available forces on the Campaign of Sargos at the 2440 a.a.H: a gamble made by the second in command of the Dark legion, Satman the Apprentice, to take all of the Five Kingdoms of the Northwest on a single invasion.

For this, the Free Peoples had massed one of the largest armies in the recorded history of Aiers until that point: while the campaign hadn't went as smoothly as the plans of Satman, it had been nevertheless succesful until the demonic catastrophe of the Battle of the Plains of Sargos, when stumbled in the battle the Anonymous Prophet, unleashing what will be called the Miracle of Sargos -when the Sand Beings where unleashed over the Dark legions-

As result, the bulk of the legions of the Free Peoples where destroyed and many of the demon lords lost their corporal bodies and the fragile recently reunited Confederation will shake and almost collapse due the failure in Sargos: however, the depleted forces of the Five Kingdoms failed to retake Roccasone -the first human kingdom and fortress to fall in the second war of the Power-, which granted a moment to the Dark Legion to take a breath.

After the Sargonic Campaign, both opposing sides where exhausted and would take some time to call the reinforcements: While the poll of manpower available to the Dark legion was stronger than of their enemies -and much of their lost commanders could gain again corporeal bodies-, the Dark Legion was unaware that the Miracle of Sargos had been an one-time event -and the rulers of the Five Kingdoms made sure to apparent they still had such power to their disposal-.

The Five Kingdoms didn't had the strength to attack the Polforian realms of the demons, and the demons feared to launch other massive invasion against the Five Kingdoms, thinking that again their massed armies would suffer a second Miracle of Sargos:

So both sides entrenched along either side of the Dargoina Mountains, expecting the other to make a move, while they focused instead of expanding their power base -like in the Holy Wars of Eden for the Five Kingdoms, seeking to obtain once more the power they had witnessed in the Plains of Sargos, or in the expansion of the Dark Legion into Hieyoks.-

However, not wanting to leave their enemies prepare unhindered, raids would be used by both sides to harass the enemy across the Dargoina Mountains or in the northwest of Polforia in the lands of the Order of the Holy Sword of Nortender, last stronghold of christianity east to the Dargoina -and where will be fought much of the remaining campaigns between the Dark Legions and the Five Kingdoms of the Northwest in the campaigns of the North (2440-2442, 2452-2456, 2464, 2472 and finally at the 2485).

While the Dark Legion prefeered to attempt raids across the Dargoina -or launching them from the Barlands-, humans prefeered to make use of their naval supremacy over the Confederation of Free Peoples, and the seafaring human nations launched coastal raids over the shores of Hieyokscream: using bases in Nortender, the pirates, corsairs, sailors and marines of men and elves from Nortender, Navatiak, the Northern Marches, Liohn, Huncle, La Cruz and Valknyria will became the bane of the shores of Polforia, disrupting the polforian trade and shipping, sometimes cruising further into Polforia following the river mouths.
