Description

It was a cold summer morning in Khar-Bad, but most of the dwellers didn't seemed to mind it, as they began their morning routine. The call of a Rooster nearby pen woke up to a new day the Ozcuras, high orcs and humans of the slums, while it was as well the time for goblins, green orcs, trolls and ogres to head back to sleep for the day. Some pigs grunted in the backyards of other house, and in the street, housemaids threw the night waste directly there, only with a shout as warning to the passing by pedestrians, who often cursed upon the sudden, stinking shower, as they went to work or returned home.

In the wells, people gathered for water, resigned to pay the fees of the thugs of the various gangs that controlled them -at least, while the Dark Legion patrols weren't around-.

To this chaos, was to be added as well the wailing of slaves. Khar-Bad had a thriving slave market, and while one of the economical centres of the town, nobody wanted to live near such place of misery. At least, nobody that could pay for it. So of course, there lived people who couldn't pay for housing somewhere.

And among the horrid, cheap options to sleep in Khar-Bad in Slave market quarter, the "Warg's Breath Inn", with it's ramshackle buildings, suspicious Surprise Meat Stew and drider innkeeper, was one of the less bad in that side of town. It even had individual rooms for the wealthier guests -who, sleeping in such part of the town, where probably shady individuals linked to the gangs and crime of the city-.

In the courtyard, while some service grey orcs washed the clothes and themselves, unruly gangs of children -of all sort of mysterious lineages- ran up and down in a confused mass, screaming, playing and hitting each other with rocks, branches and bones they found around.

That was, until they noticed something.

Two Ozcuras grey orcs, one in front of other, had their blades unsheathed. Smelling a chance for blood and gore, the little rumps ran toward the duellists, seeking to find for themselves the better spot for what they thought was going to be a drunken brawl between two drunken patrons.

"This is going to be awesome!" said a little orcling to an ozcurilla. "Last time, I saw how a sort of Swamp Monster girl gutted open an Ozcura in half!"

"Pfft! That'z zo falze! Oscuras eazily win to Swamp Monzterz!" the Ozcurilla said, looking if they could climb a tree branch to have a better view.

"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" The little orcs chanted...

But their blood-thirst wasn't sated... because rather than a fun drunken brawl where they could see somebody get killed -and probably later added to the Meat Surprise Stew, before authorities came asking questions-, it looked like instead, these two Ozcuras were only sparring.

"Booooring!" the children jeered at the Ozcuras...

which served only to make even more self-conscious Shadow the Ozcura about her melee fighting abilities.

"What... what are you doing?

That's... that's not how you do it.

Take it seriously." Her partner Carrion said, seeing how Shadow was only waving her sword in her general direction. With only a minor tap in the hilt of the sword, she deflected the blind moves of Shadow. "If this was a real fight, I would have already cut your arm! And you would be dead!"

"Well- yeah! But if this was a real fight, you will have both your eyes pierced by my arrows!" Shadow said, blushing a bit.

Then, one of the windows of the inn opened... and a very hangover Venom popped her heads up, awaken first by the chants of the children, later, by their jeering.

She sighed.

"You are losing your time Carrion." Venom said. "I tell you, rather than trying to teach Shadow how to fight, we should follow MY plan! When we need to escape, we simply toss her in front of us!"

Shadow glared at Venom, but she didn't seemed to mind at all.

Distracted, she didn't even saw how with a simple move, Carrion disarmed her. Shadow yelped by the flat sword hit on her hand, and dropped her blade.

"Don't be distracted by taunts!" warned Carrion, stepping over the blade of Shadow, before turning the tip of her sword toward Venom -who was carelessly doing her hair now into a ponytail.

"VENOM! I'm only doing this, because YOU said you where going to train Shadow, yet you decide to appear only NOW!"

"Hey! All these belts take A LOT of time to get correctly!"

only mentioned without a name, it's :iconjssabotta:'s character Amphy, who had began -and ended- a fair share of violent brawls in the underworld of Khar-Bad.
