The Strider Troll are goblinoids of the Troll family, that was found in Aels.

The trolls are known for the great diversity seen among the various troll races, some saying actually naming all of them troll, only due some minimal common characteristics, it's outstretching the term.

In general, and in oposition to the ogres, the trolls have in common their increased healing factor -thought that legends and stories have exagerated them, it's indeed important.-, being as well of nocturnal habits, and normally described as Man-eaters.

Other difference with the ogres, it's that trolls dwell in isolated rocks, mountains, or caves, living together in small family units, meanwhile the Ogres are more social.

Depending on the region from which accounts of trolls stem, their appearance varies greatly; trolls may be ugly and slow-witted, very large and feral, while some kinds are only smaller than humans and more humanoid looking.

Some kinds of trolls have large and slim looking, strong limbs -like the Strider Troll-, while others have a heavier build -some suppose result of hibridization between trolls and ogres-. Some are covered in hair, while others have none -or only few in the head and face.-

Some have tails, long or very short fingers, big and long noses, whide ones, or rather short ones. Others may have instead a snout, and some have horns.

While there are much physycal variation between the troll races, individuals of a same race are similar, existing some more unique individuals due mix of troll races, or hibridization with ogres and other species -specially goblinoids, as the larger orc races, but this doesn't exclude other groups, as elves, humans, kanovs and dwarves for example-. This in part is due in some Troll cultures, they had the custome to mix their blood with other species, to make the troll blood "less thick". No one is sure the reason of the origin of this custome, but the half-trolls and quarter trolls, who may be physically less strong than full trolls, are much more inteligent, and much more dangerous enemies to have.

Aside of the great variation among trolls, the ambiguous use of the word troll as well made this even more confusing, as it was sometimes used to denote various beings such as a giants, ogres or mountain-dweller, witches, an abnormally strong or large or ugly person, an evil spirit, a ghost, a magical boar, a heathen demi-god, a demon, a orc or a berserk.

Trolls are sometimes associated with particular landmarks, which at times may be explained as formed from a troll exposed to sunlight, but this was really a myth -thought trolls are completely nocturnal creatures, and it's indeed very strange to see one active during the day, and that it's only in extreme conditions-.

In general, trolls have only a rudimentary material culture, not domesticating livestock or agriculture, being errant and producing only crude stone, bone and wood tools. However, they have adquired a quite clear interest to gold and precious metals, many times tolling travelers for them, as the possetion of gold gives a troll prestige among his kind. But sometimes they use it to adquire metal tools, products, food and clothes they don't produce.

In the Dark Legion of Demons, in difference to Ogres, the trolls where more chaotic, anarchict, less domesticated and with less discipline, so while their force and size was appreciated, they where often problematic allies to the demons.
